After beating the reigning King of the Ring, Xavier Woods, in the second round of the 2023 King of the Ring tournament, Hook had advanced to the Quarter Finals. If he made it to the Semi Finals at Total Supremacy, Hook would face either the Breakout Champion, Brock Anderson; a man who had been on an impressive run, and has almost won the Last Survivor match back in January. Or he would face the 12-time EBWF World Champion, Chris Jericho, who Hook had beaten last year at Total Supremacy in what was arguably the biggest win or his career to date. The prospect of a rematch with Jericho, or a one on one match with Brock Anderson for the first time, excited Hook. Not to mention that if he made it all the way to the final, Hook could be facing one of the guys who had made him want to be a professional wrestler when he was growing up - Edge. Or another wrestler he had once looked up to, but now seemed to be in a feud of sorts with... Edge's former tag team partner, Christian Cage. The stakes were high, but Hook was trying not to get ahead of himself. Because he had a big challenge on his hands tonight. He was facing Trent; another former EBWF World Champion who had recently returned to EBWF after several years living it large in Japan. Hook had a lot of respect for Trent, and new he would need to be at his best to beat him. But Hook wasn't afraid of a challenge.
As he arrived at the Pinnacle Bank Arena, where the final Warfare before Total Supremacy was taking place, Hook headed straight to his locker room. But as he got there, Renee Young was waiting outside, wanting to interview him.
Renee Young: Excuse me, Hook? I was wondering if you had anything to say about your match tonight. You picked up a huge win a couple of weeks ago when you defeated Xavier Woods, and another win tonight over Trent will put you in the Semi Finals of the King of the Ring tournament. How are you feeling?
The truth was, Hook didn't feel like talking. He preferred to do his talking in the ring, which was why he normally let his father/manager Taz handle promos and interviews. But he knew that if he wanted to be successful in EBWF, he had to be a professional, which meant doing the occasional interview from time to time. Besides, he liked Renee. If it had been someone else standing outside his locker room, Hook might have been tempted to refuse the interview, but he was more than happy to give Renee a few moments of his time.
Hook: I'm excited, Renee. How can I not be? When I signed for EBWF last year, I immediately set my sights on winning the King of the Ring tournament, but I was screwed by MJF. Now, not only am I in the Quarter Finals, but MJF has been eliminated! So I don't have to worry about him, or the rest of the dWo. I can focus on Trent. Now Trent is a tough guy, he's proved that over the last few years while he's been a heavyweight in Japan. Not to mention his previous successes in EBWF. That Stairway to Hell match he had with Jericho back in... what was it, 2014? That was brilliant. So I know that Trent is a threat, and of the eight guys left in this tournament, he's probably one of the favourites to win it. But he has never stepped into the ring with me, Renee. And if he didn't see how dangerous I was when I beat King Xavier, I will make damn sure he knows how dangerous I am when he's done with me tonight.
Hook was about to enter his locker room, but before he could, Renee wanted to ask him something else.
Renee Young: Sorry Hook, just one more question. Another one of the men in the Quarter Finals is Christian Cage, who assaulted you after your First Round match in this tournament and said it was because you hadn't "paid your dues". When you spoke before your match with Xavier Woods, you warned Christian that you would be "coming for him". Given that both of you are here in Lincoln, Nebraska, will tonight be the night that we see you seek revenge on Christian for attacking you last month?
Hook shrugged, smirking as he did so.
Hook: Well Renee, that depends on whether or not Christian comes after me tonight. I'm still focused on winning the King of the Ring tournament, and since Christian is still in the tournament too, I'd like to think he'll be focused on that rather than thinking about me. So I can promise you this much... I have no intention of getting involved in his match with Max Caster. Because there's still a chance I could face Christian in the King of the Ring final, and wouldn't the sweetest form of revenge be to stop him from winning the crown by beating him on Sunday? But since Christian's match is before mine tonight, if he loses to Max Caster, I am fully expecting him to try and get involved in my match. After all, he wouldn't want me to get to the Semi Finals if he can't, would he? So all I'll say is, if Christian comes for me, I'll be ready. And I'll make sure he regrets it.
Hook had nothing left to say, so he entered his locker room, bringing the interview to a close.
