To try or not to try

Post by TheDynasty »

MJF was shown backstage flanked by Powerhouse Hobbs, with Alex Marvez alongside the duo.

Alex Marvez: MJF, you've requested this time, so what's on your mind?

MJF: Well, I know that the last thing anybody wants to hear is me talking about how the powers that be are conspiring against me again, but you should know, Marvez, that I couldn't give a rat's ass whether people want to hear it, because it's the truth. It's no secret that EBWF management hate my guts, but it's also no secret that they need me. That's why we end up in a paradoxical situation whereby they beg me to return early, but then also have me escorted from the building when I do. And to be honest, I can't blame them. It makes for great TV, and it helps the show stop haemorrhaging viewers like it was while I was in the hospital. They know that MJF equals ratings, so they want me on Warfare week in, week out. But their hatred for me burns so deep inside of them that they don't want me to be successful, only present, which is why they keep stacking the deck against me. The only problem is that their desire for me to fail is so ingrained in their subconscious that they let it sneak into legal documents, too. Do you remember last week when I regaled you all with the story of Wes basically bribing me to return before I was 100%? Take a look at the paperwork, Marvez. Try to ignore the many zeroes on the amount and focus on the requirements for me to earn them.

Alex Marvez: It says that you need to enter the King of the Ring tournament.

MJF: Exactly, Marvez. I only need to enter the tournament. I mean, I guess I understand why they wouldn't want to incentivize me to win the whole thing, because that would basically make me the face of the company for the next year, but not stipulating that I have to make it to a certain round, or even make an effort...I should wear a red jumpsuit and a Dali mask because I'm basically printing my own cash at this point. I could walk into the ring, lay down for the three count, and still walk out a rich man...well, rich-er man. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that's going to happen tonight against Bowens, I still have a reputation to maintain and laying down for a curtain-jerker isn't particularly good for the brand as Holliday would say, but I'm also not saying that isn't going to happen tonight. I guess you'll just have to wait and see what kind of mood I'm in when I get out there. Better keep Al Snow and Brooklyn Brawler on standby in case you need to fill some time if my match doesn't fill as much time as you'd planned. And when you add the likelihood of Hobbs here squashing that little pissant Rey Mysterio in record time, much like Rey, Warfare could be incredibly short this week.

MJF smirked and pushed Alex Marvez aside as he returned to his locker room.
